Doing the Christmas shopping rounds in Guildford last Saturday I was shocked to find a whole street with no lights and clearly no power.

The presence of numerous power company vans in the area suggested all was not well and many of the shops were closed...

My blood ran cold at the thought of the lost revenue the Saturday before Christmas.

The staff at the White Co branch had used their initiative and moved a table close to the door where there was daylight and were serving customers with a calculator, receipt pad and one of our Addressograph Bartizan credit card imprinters.

The click clack sound of the machine warmed my cockles!!
